Coalition endorses Tinubu for second term, hails his economic, security reforms

Date:

The second term ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu got a boost as a coalition of two foremost Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) comprising of Anti-Kidnapping, Human Trafficking, Child Abuse and Drug Abuse (AKH-TRACADA) and Society for the Reconciliation of Nigerians in Diaspora (SORENID) endorsed his candidature.

In a press statement released in Abuja Wednesday, jointly signed by the Founder/National Coordinator of AKH-TRACADA, Primate Belownu Ezeanyaeche and Chief Co-ordinating Officer (CC0) of SORENID, Sir. Uche Okafor, they noted the endorsement was based on their assessment of the direction of the country under his administration, particularly in the areas of economic reform, national security, infrastructure development and institutional renewal.

According to the statement, “We are well convinced based on our independent and honest assessment of the present leadership that the nation needs continuity, consistency, determined and honest leadership to consolidate the gains of the ongoing reform programme which is showing tangible results. President Tinubu has demonstrated the willingness to take difficult decisions necessary to reposition the Nigerian economy and lay the foundation for sustainable growth.

“In the area of Economic Transformation, since ascending the presidency, the administration has undertaken significant reforms, including the retooling of the economy to favour ordinary Nigerians, exchange-rate reforms, fiscal restructuring and measures aimed at attracting investment and strengthening domestic production.

“We acknowledge that much more have to be done to ensure that economic growth translates directly to improved living standards for ordinary citizens. There has been great improvement in economic growth, with real GDP expanding by 4.07 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025 and 3.89 percent in the first quarter of 2026.

“President Tinubu has continued to embark on policies designed to stimulate investments and expand productivity. Most recently, the approval of a new deep-water oil and gas investment framework is expected by the government to unlock substantial new investment in the sector.

“For us, these developments demonstrate that the foundations for a more productive and competitive Nigerian economy are being strengthened and promoted.

“National Security has continued to be strengthened through the administration’s efforts to rejig Nigeria’s security architecture and improve the capacity of the armed forces and para-military organizations.

“The recent approval for the expansion of the Nigerian Army from eight to twelve divisions, including the recruitment of 28,000 additional personnel and increased investment in equipment and troop welfare, represents a significant effort to confront terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other threats to national security.

“The successful rescue of more than 300 abducted Nigerians in a major coordinated security operation in August 2026 further demonstrated the capacity of our security agencies to conduct intelligence-led operations and protect citizens. We believe that the response must be sustained, strengthened and consolidated.

“Make no mistake about it, this endorsement is founded on the conviction that the reforms currently underway require continuity to deliver their full benefits. We therefore call on Nigerians to consider the long-term direction of the country. The task before Nigeria is to build an economy capable of creating more jobs and opportunities, strengthen national security, attract investment, develop infrastructure and establish institutions that can deliver prosperity for future generations.

“No doubt, President Tinubu has demonstrated the political will to undertake difficult reforms and the determination to confront longstanding national challenges. We believe, therefore he deserves the opportunity to consolidate these efforts during a second term.

“Based on these gains enumerated above, we formally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and call on Nigerians to support the continuation and consolidation of the Renewed Hope agenda.

“Again, we urge the people to support President Tinubu’s second term bid as the nation needs stability, continuity and purposeful leadership. We believe President Tinubu offers the experience, determination and reform agenda required to move the nation forward” the statement concluded.
