The Nigeria Army has insisted on having active collaboration with civilians at local levels with a view to improve operational capabilities to end the pressing security challenges bedeviling Zamfara State and Northwest in general.
This was disclosed by the 1 brigade Commander of the Nigeria Army, Brigadier General TM Opurum at the workshop organized by the Cleen Foundation, a nongovernmental organization at the Command Guest Inn Gusau, Zamfara State capital.
General Opurum further opined that, a strong partnership will not only enhance the operational capabilities, but will also promote mutual and most needed understanding of the military’s role and mission among the local populace.
He explained that, the intelligence gathering is always achieved through partnership with inhabitants from the host communities.
According to General Opurum, the workshop presents a significant opportunity to strengthen collaborative efforts in promoting civil-military relations, an endeavor that is essential for achieving lasting peace, enhancing stability, and fostering socio-economic development in Zamfara State.
“As the Commander. 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Gusau, I recognize the invaluable role that Civil-Millary Relations (CMR) play in enhancing both our operational effectitveness and the overall security environment in which we operate.
“Effective CMR is pivotal not only in safeguarding our national Interests but in ensuring that the military functions within the framework of democratic govemance, respecting the rights and voices of our citizens.”
