Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) said it has invested the sum of €2.4million Euro on Integrated Commercial Management System (inCMS), a system that would guarantee effective technical and commercial management of the company.
Explaining the functionality of the system to some selected journalists in Abuja, the Project Manager, Dr. George Ng’uni said, the system would be used to harmonise the data base of customers.
Dr. Ng’uni who is also the Strategic and Technical Adviser to the MD/CEO, AEDC, Engr. Ernest Mupwaya said, the system would harmonise all commercial activities, especially customer data base for effective management.
”It is a huge project on our side. We are investing in excess of €2.4m to improve our commercial management and the whole processes related to commercial management,” he said.
The Project Manager said, with the system, all the existing data bases would be collapsed into one, saying that a customer can decide to stop and restart a process of documentation from any location.
Also speaking, the General Manager, Customer Service, AEDC, Safia Bello Tiffi said, the old data has been migrated into the new system (inCMS).
She said, “the inCMS will link all commercial activities, so when a potential customer comes, all the processes he or she will be subjected to are in the system for easy access.”
She said, it was in a bid “for AEDC customers to get value for their money, that the management procured this system (inCMS). It integrates all that we are doing and gives you 360 view of the customers; billing, finances and history of the customers.”
The InCMS Project Secretary, Mimi Angyu said, customer property like house, shop and others would be marked using Service Point Number (SPN) for easy identification.
For instance, during the procurement of meters, SPN which is the unique identification number of the customer would be attached to the meters to avoid diversion and theft.
She said, at the point of moving the meter from the store, a service order would be generated to ensure that the meter installation is tracked to avoid theft or diversion.
Also speaking, the Manager, Billing, AEDC, Omolola Ogunmola said, the system (inCMS) would resolve the issue of over billing of customers.
According to the team, the system would curb energy theft and sharp practices.
AEDC said, “the system will also link customers to distribution transformers. It will aggregate the energy that passed through the transformers for accurate billing.”
