Residents of Ekakpamre Community in Delta State have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Inspector–General of Police, Idris Muhammed, and other relevant authorities to save them from the alleged harassment by Delta state Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa.
Outgoing President–General of the Union, Chief Mukoro Abraham, accused the governor of plotting to impose his stooges as executives of the union accounting for the delay in conducting the union’s election which would usher in new executives.
Chief Mukoro disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists in Benin City, the Edo state Capital.
He said the alleged witch-hunting, intimidation and indiscriminate arrest of perceived members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was unbecoming of an elected governor who ought to concern himself with issues of governance and welfare of Deltans.
According to him, “the Ughelli South Local Government Council, authority falsified the original list of delegates to the election in favour of his cronies which triggered massive protest by the people and eventual cancellation of the election by the Head, Personnel Management of the Council and security operatives”, Mukoro alleged.
