Commuters plying Keffi-Kaduna Federal Highway have called on the Nasarawa and Kaduna Police Commands, to as a matter of urgency; embark on an extensive borders patrol in order to combat the incessant armed robbery activities around Tudu Uku, Angwan Ayaba Tattara and Barde, Koso Villages in the neighbouring Kaduna State.
A commuter, Mr. Markus Beybeydo, who made the call yesterday in a chat with Peoples Daily, said, “We are appealing to Nasarawa and Kaduna Police authorities to come to our aid, by deploying security operatives to the spotting areas so as to checkmate the activities of armed robbers who, on daily basis operate freely on the road, killing and seizing properties of innocent of travelers”.
According to Beybeydo, “Now that we have entered the festive period, which is climaxed with activities, the road will equally be busy as people will be travelling through the road to states like Plateau, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe and Adamawa. Therefore, if something is not done to safeguard the lives and property of passengers from the bandits, then we are in danger”.
A resident, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said the persistent robbery activities along Keffi-Kaduna road requires collective efforts of vigilante groups and respective village heads through close monitoring and reporting of questionable characters in their domain, to appropriate authorities and the re-introduction of Police (Mopol) check points at the major flash points, so as to curtail the heinous crimes witnessed in the area.
His words: “In fact, we are calling on the Police Commissioners of Nasarawa and Kaduna states to intervene and save us from these culprits terrorizing the people.”
