In order to eschew delay of the ongoing construction of Kuje-Abuja Airport road, compensation for buildings and other structures to be affected by the project is estimated to gulp 1.1 billion Naira.
Making this disclosure during an inspection at the site yesterday, FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike assured that he will immediately approve the estimated sum, for the FCT Administration can start paying the compensation, so that the work will not be delayed.
Wike said he was very impressed with the project, as it is progressing as expected.
“I have come here to see for myself the report on the valuation of what I was supposed to pay. When I got the files for approval, I said, look, it would be proper for me to see for myself the kind of structures which I was going to pay.
“The entire estimate they gave was 1.1 billion to pay for those whose properties are affected, like some of these buildings you have seen here, down to the community.
“I am going to make it available, so that the contractor will not find any excuse for delay”, he stated.
The minister, who also inspected the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal structure under construction, as well as the construction of the road leading to that edifice expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of works on the projects.
According to him: “I am very impressed with what I have seen. By the grace of God, we believe that in September, the contractor will have handed over the structure, which is the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
“I can also see the construction of the road leading to that edifice, and the contractor is also doing everything possible to see that he meets up with the time.”
