There is a relief for teeming rural dwellers across the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) as the council leadership opened completed multimillion healthcare and road projects for their use.
In particular, among the infrastructure commissioned are; rehabilitated 750 meters road in Pyakasa community off Airport Road, 480-meter access road with drainage system on both sides in Toge community, newly constructed 500 metres asphalt paved road to the AMAC Annex, i named after Hon. Zaphania Jisalo, former AMAC Chairman.
Also, two Primary healthcare Centres in Gbassa village and Kaba community were opened for immediate public use.
Commissioning the projects on Wednesday, AMAC Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, said they were executed to ease the interconnectivity of the villages as well as boost the business activities around the area council.
Candido explained that the projects completed and commissioned are examples of the dividends of democracy that we have been championing for.
He charged the residents of the communities to protect and guard the infrastructure jealously, so that the whole essence of the developmental strides will not be defeated, but will improve the livelihood of people living in those areas.
“For us, we done the little work we can, we leave the rest to God and other successive governments to do.
So I want to appreciate the community, and I want to charge them guard jealously these infrastructure.
“ Because government comes and goes, but the funds are not readily available, so they should guard them jealously; protect them for their use, that’s how the effort of the government can be appreciated”, he stressed.
Reacting to the development, the Chief of Pyakasa Village, Bako Josiah thanked Candido for always putting the interest of the people first since his assumption in office as AMAC chairman, and promised him continuous support to do more.
Similarly, Chief of Gbassa village, Saulka community off Airport Road,
Alh. Musa Yetu, who described the construction of a healthcare facility as a welcome development, said it would help ameliorate the sufferings of people in the community.
He pledged their readiness of the community to ensure the protection of the facility, in order to serve its purpose of access to basic healthcare services to the people.
Earlier, Head, Department of Works, AMAC, Arch. Gaza Andrew explained that the Pyakasa Asphalt Access road is equipped with several culvets; cross culvets and passing culvets at every junction, to make the road durable and stand a test of time.
He added that the earthworks on Toge access road is accompanied with culvets, saying the road connects with Olumi, a village nearby.
