A Grade 1 Area court, in Kado, Abuja, has sentenced two drivers to one month in prison each, for causing obstruction on the high way.
The duo sentenced are; Oliver Tobe, 33 and Anim Basil, 32, both residing in Gwagwa village, Abuja, who were charged with causing obstruction on the high way.
The judge, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced the convicts after they pleaded guilty to the crime.
The judge, however gave them an option of N5, 000 fine each.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Simeon Emmanuel, told the court that DSP Isiguzo Bernad, Divisional Traffic Officer of Life Camp Division, apprehended and took them to the police station on May 21.
Emmanuel said the convicts, Tobe who drove a Ford Bus with Reg No: ABN 321 XA, and Basil who also drove a bus with Reg. No XD 604 APP, refused to remove their cars from the road after being involved in an accident.
He said that their action caused a hold up on Mabushi road, in the nation’s capital.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened section 39(32) of the Road Transport Act.
They pleaded guilty to the charge and begged the court for leniency. (NAN)
