Tomorrow is not promised and death is a certainty that none of us can escape. We all came and go we must at appointed times, death is certainly inevitable. Allah (SWT) says in Qur’an 3: 185 that:
Every soul shall taste death, and you will only be given your full compensation on the Day of Resurrection….
No one has experienced what comes after death to narrate it. For this reason, we should not be deceived by the temporary glitter of this Dunya. Its pleasures are fleeting, while Allah emphasize the fact that the pleasure of the Hereafter is everlasting.
When you came into this World as a baby, you were crying while those around you rejoiced. When death comes, strive to live such a life that the reverse will become your case, by departing this World with a smile while those around you weep. From the luxury of your present status and from the temporary comforts of this World, turn your inevitable abode into a beautiful home and build for yourself, a permanent and peaceful abode in the Hereafter.
The time to start is now, because:
Nobody knows the day or time of death. Nobody knows the nature of death. Nobody knows where or how death will come. Nobody knows where he will be buried. Nobody knows who will shroud him or lower him into the grave. Nobody knows who will pray his janazah.
Only Allah (SWT) has knowledge of these matters. As such, let us live every moment with taqwa (fear and consciousness of Allah), no matter the circumstance, place, or situation.
The Prophet was reported to have said: Remember often, the destroyer of pleasures (death).
The remembrance of death, of how, of where and of when it will come, all of which is unknown to us and which is very much certain, softens the heart, reduces attachment to worldly illusions, and keeps us mindful of the eternal home that awaits us.
Therefore; Fear Allah in your words. Fear Allah in your dealings. Fear Allah in your actions. Fear Allah in your decisions. Fear Allah whether alone or with others. Fear Allah in secret and in the open.
For indeed: The fear of Allah gathers all goodness. Whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out of every challenge and situation.
Indeed, Allah is with those who fears Him and does good deeds.
May Allah (SWT) grant us hearts that remember death and prepare for it with sincerity and righteous deeds. May Allah (SWT) make our last moments, the best of our moments, may He make our last deeds, the best of our deeds, and may He make our last words to be La ilaha illa Allah.
May Allah grant us husnul khātimah (a good ending), protect us from the torment of the grave, expand our graves with light and mercy, and gather us among the righteous under His shade on the Day when there will no shade but His.
May Allah repose the souls of all our Muslim faithfuls in peace and grant them, eternal rest in Aljanatul firdaus
