Following the defection of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 2011 election, from the All Progressive Congress APC to ruling Peopls Democratic Party PDP, the APC deputy chairman, North-East Zone, Baba Lawan, has described his exit as inconsequential on the fortunes of the party.
The deputy chairman who made the assertion yesterday on the Hausa Service of the BBC monitored in Jos said the former EFCC boss’ stay in the party was not relevant, saying he was nothing to the party.
He said, “ Ribadu is not relevant to our party. So his defection to PDP would not make any negative impact to APC rather than causing problem to PDP. We are even happy with the development and every one in Adamawa is equally happy.”
Lawan noted that Ribadu’s insignificance to a party was obviously indicated in the 2011 general election where he (Ribadu) got only 30, 000 votes in the whole of Adamawa state.
He further said the former EFCC boss was not popular and APC would be very happy if by any mistake PDP gives governoship ticket to him as he would be easily defeated in the poll, adding that Ribadu had been very deceptive.
