Delta: 1,200 falsified certificates uncovered in Burutu LG -SUBEB

Officials of age falsification verification exercise at the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state have uncovered 1, 200 falsified certificates in Burutu Local Government Area of the state.
In the just concluded exercise, the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Sunny Ogwu told our reporter: “The end of the exercise that took the committee to all the Federal Constituencies in the state, out of a total of 2, 567 teaching, and now teaching staff were screened by the committee, 1, 200 were found with falsified documents, especially in their ages, we will do away with those taught in the act.”
He said that the purpose of the exercise was to sanitize the system even as he limited that the committee, comprising of ALGON, SUBEB, NUT and Local Education Authorities’ Secretaries has completed its assessment to verify and rectify age discrepancies discovered by the consultant engaged to capture the biometrics of staff at the unified Local Government System.
According to him, “the Board has developed information data base of all its teaching, and non-teaching staff which will put a final stop to cases of age falsification, it has exposed the staff involved in the exercise” while describing the exercise as a right step towards the right direction aimed at bringing sanity to the system, SUBEB boss however commended the committee, and reaffirmed the position of the state government to weed out “fake” in the system.
He said: “the exercise is one of the best so far anybody can think of, there are several cases of ridiculous claims which indicated that some of the affected staff tarnished primary school at the age of two years, or even before they were born.”
