Delta State Government has expressed serious concern over the proliferation of NGOs in the state, regretting that many of them were yet to meet the standard of their aims and objectives in their set goals
Secretary to the State Government (SSG) , Barr Chiedu Ebie who spoke to journalists in Asaba on Sunday on the activities of NGOs in the state over the years, said there was need for collaborative effort with one another so as to avoid duplication of activities, especially with a view to ensuring stronger support and encouragement from members of the public as well as the government.
Ebie however, noted that collaborative effort among the NGOs would continue to impact on the society, saying that it was entirely difficult to reward people or organizations who do things not actually expecting any rewards, but prayed that God will continue to strengthen the Non-Governmental Agencies ( NGOs) in meeting their objectives even as government on its part will always do its best in order to impact lives positively in the state.
Meanwhile, the state government has advised builders in the state to always engage the services of qualified personnel during construction of any building in order to avert loss of lives and properties.
Secretary to the State Government ( SSG) Barr Chiedu Ebie in a Press statement issued on Sunday in Asaba on the collapsed building at Sunny Block Industry by Christ Okocha Camp 74 Area of Awaiting road, Asaba, expressed sadness over the incident, stating that that the incident occurred with only one life lost and however sympathized with the deceased relations.
On that of Abraka community where four persons were killed, the SSG said that the state government would continue to enforce standards concerning buildings in the state with a view to averting future occurrences especially in the protection of lives and properties.
Four persons were said to have died in Abraka community following the collapse of the building they were working and during precipitation on Saturday morning, while scores were said to have been trapped.
