Worsened situation across Delta State following the ravaging flood menace,may soon be over as the State government through its constituted taskforce committee at the weekend stepped up action to clear the blocked water channels
Few communities in the State, especially the riveren ones; Burutu, Bomadi, Patani, Ughelli North and South, Isoko South and North, some parts of Oshimili South, North, and Aniocha South and North,among others since the coming of the rains, have been submerged in flood that swept away their crops including destroying unspecified number of houses.
Investigation had also revealed that some parts of Ika South and North East communities have been facing terrible environmental problem over the years while few ones among them have been completely cut off by worsened gully erosion.
Consequently, the taskforce on Environment in the State in its determined measures to avert more disasters, had swung into action to clear some blocked water channels as well as arresting some residents in the affected areas for alleged indiscriminate dumping of refuse to block the water channels.
