Delta: Group wants state of emergency declared on federal roads

A group, the concerned indigenes of Abraka, has called on the federal government to as a matter of urgency declare a state of emergency on the deplorable road condition of Agbor/Eku roads as it has become death traps.
The group who spoke through its co-ordinator, Comrade Truemulor Happy told our reporter on Monday in Asaba, that the calls has become necessary considering the poor site of the roads.
He said: “Agbor/Eku roads belong to Federal Government, but it is in a sorry state at the moment because the pot holes are that it could be likened to a ditch, death traps” and appealed to the federal government authorities concerned to help repair the roads to aver increasing death rates.
He explained that as a result of the bad roads, motorists and residents of the areas were currently facing difficulties in driving and as well exporting their food crops to urban areas, adding these bad spots are now safe haven for armed robbers, go to Eku and Amukpe road, and see how robbers are disturbing residents/motorists on daily basis, we cannot continue to deceive ourselves that all is well with us” and called on the federal government to rise to the occasion, and address the issue.
