Delta Poly goes tough on cultism

The management of the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro on Monday announced stiffer measures to stamp out cultism in the Institution, saying that the it was committed to the welfare of the students whose major concern should be their academics for their future wellbeing
While emphasizing that it would do everything possible to make cultism history at the institution, It expressed its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property where absolute comportment to the rules and regulations of the institution cannot be Jeopardized.
The Public Relations Officer ( PRO) of the Institution, Mr Boniface Oganyaran who conveyed management’s reaction over the students’ protest on restriction of students’ motorcycles and cars into the polytechnic recently, and on Monday at the media conference in Ozoro community, said that the decision to ban students cars, tinted be vehicles and commercial motorcycles from entering the Institution’s premises was for the safety, security and well-being of students in particular and members of the Institution’s community, adding that the management was poised to ensure all forms of secret societies in the institution are stamped out
.It would be recalled that the students’ protest which occurred recently, led to the barricade of the Institution gate where commuters passing through the ever busy Ughelli/ Asaba expressway were stranded as the protest was led by the Students Union Government ( SUG) of the polytechnic, also grounded academic activities for hours with placards” allow students’ vehicles, motorcycles and visitors cars into the polytechnic, stop subjecting us to hardship”
