The Zonal Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto East Senatorial District, Alhaji Muhammad Musa Sarkin-Alaru, has described Nigeria’s democratic journey since 1999 as a success, citing notable achievements at both the state and national levels.

Speaking with journalists in Sokoto on Tuesday, Sarkin-Alaru commended the gains of democracy and attributed the progress recorded in Sokoto State to the leadership of APC stakeholders, particularly Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District in the Senate.

The APC chieftain, who also serves as Campaign Coordinator for the party’s Sokoto East Senatorial candidate, Alhaji Umar Ajiya (Ajiyan Isa), said the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has continued to deliver tangible dividends of democracy to residents of the state.

According to him, the peaceful emergence of APC candidates across the state reflects the strength of democratic processes and the party’s commitment to meeting the aspirations of the people.

“For us in the eastern zone of Sokoto State, where security challenges remain a major concern, we have witnessed genuine commitment from the government and our leaders in addressing these issues,” Sarkin-Alaru said.

He also praised the APC senatorial candidate for Sokoto East, Alhaji Umar Ajiyan-Isa, describing him as a dedicated public servant whose humanitarian interventions predate his political ambitions.

“His emergence will not only strengthen efforts to address security challenges in the zone but will also complement government initiatives aimed at improving the living standards of our people,” he stated.

Sarkin-Alaru noted that Ajiyan-Isa has undertaken several humanitarian activities across the senatorial district, including the distribution of more than 250 bags of grains and financial support to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

He further disclosed that following an attack on Gandi community in Rabah Local Government Area, the APC candidate donated food items and N2 million to affected families.

According to him, Ajiyan-Isa has also supported party activities by donating a Toyota Camry vehicle to each of the eight APC local government chairmen in the zone.

He added that plans are underway to distribute 1,000 motorcycles to party leaders to enhance mobility ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He estimated that Ajiyan-Isa spent more than N18 million on humanitarian assistance for IDPs and vulnerable persons during the recent Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Expressing confidence in the APC’s prospects in the 2027 general elections, Sarkin-Alaru said the party is well-positioned to secure victory across the eight local government areas in Sokoto East Senatorial District and beyond.

He urged residents to support the APC, citing what he described as the developmental efforts of the state government and the commitment of President Bola Tinubu to improving the welfare of Nigerians.
