Denial of weapon by global partners frustrating fight against insurgency, Lai

Minister for Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed has attributed the inability of Nigeria government to fight terrorism effectively to the adamant refusal of global partners to grant access to weapon.
Alh. Mohammed who said this while speaking with newsmen yesterday in Makurdi, Benue State capital in the wake of killing of over 40 farmers in Borno described the incident as ‘unfortunate ‘.
He said Nigeria had made several attempts to acquire better and more effective platforms to deal with terrorist but for one reason or the other we have been denied this platforms.
“And without adequate weapons we may remain at the mercy of the terrorist, but you see fighting terrorist is not a joke.”
“What actually happened in Borno State is quit unfortunate but we also have to look at the strategy of the terrorist.
“We will never stop protecting lives and livelihood. But we must also, understand that we are dealing with terrorist who are financed globally and we also, need more support from global partners.
“Terrorist use media and publicity as oxygen and so when they go on this kind of wide less killing of this magnitude, a dying terrorist group will now suddenly spring to life. It does not mean the Government is not doing enough.
“Terrorist everywhere have the same concept which is a group of people who are extremist in their thought and who does not believe that me and you should be alive,” the Information Minister decried.
