Disregard misleading reports on FMC BKD, group tells FG

A collation of Birnin Kudu communities associations popularly known as Muryar Birnin Kudu has called on federal government to disregard the report that 15 students lost their lives along Birnin Kudu – Dutse road.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued to news men by the publicity secretary of the association, Comrade Kabiru Zubairu.
The statement said, the report is not only misleading but an attempt to pre-empt the federal government decision on her choice of site for the establishment of the Teaching Hospital at federal Medical Centre Birnin Kudu.
According to the statement, choosing of Federal Medical Center (FMC), Birnin Kudu or Rashid Shekoni Specialists Hospital Dutse, is a matter that has been put to rest before now.
The statement said, it could be recalled, the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie E. Ehanire, had visited the two facilities for assessment and promised to recommend Federal Government for the most suitable facility for the Teaching Hospital.
“As loyal citizens, we will accept in good faith for whatever turns out to be the final decision of the Federal Government, this is our stand.
“However, the people of Birnin Kudu community wouldn’t have reacted to the report but, we deem it necessary to put facts in their right perspective, the report didn’t deemed it right to enlightening the authorities concern on the possible huge financial implication that could be incurred in term of manpower and facilities, if the federal government should run two federal health institutions in the state.
The affordable services enjoyed by the teeming populace of Jigawa state origin from state owned health facilities may not necessarily be within same purview for same set of citizens in same hospital taken over by Federal Government, looking at the poverty level indices amongst our people in the state,” the statement said.
The statement maintained that, “It’s also noted with concern on the misrepresentation of fact on issue that FMC Birnin Kudu is 60 kilometres away from the University in Dutse. This is not true as it’s actually 43 kilometres away. More so, there is an alternative road that is comparatively shorter that was recently constructed by Jigawa State Government. The road covers only 36km from the university’s main gate to FMC Birnin Kudu”.
The statement added that, locating FMC Birnin Kudu as teaching hospital will be for the benefit of not only Jigawa state but almost all north-eastern states including Bauchi,Taraba, Adamawa, Yobe, plateau,Gombe, Maiduguri and Jigawa states.
Then the Muryar Birnin Kudu Associations assured their readiness to anticipate the right decision of Mr. President in selecting the right hospital as a teaching site for our medical students.
