Don’t hide under religion to create conflicts, Delta Chief Iman warns Muslims, others

The Chief Iman of Delta State, Alhaji Utsuman Ayokunnu has warned Muslims and Non-Muslims on the need to avoid conflicts in the practice of their faith and respect one another’s religion as one Nigeria irrespective of their differences.
Alhaji Utsuman Ayokunnu who spoke to journalists in Asaba yesterday on the continued religious crisis that has bedeviled some of the states in Nigeria, regretted what he described as nebulous religious practice by some Muslims and Non-Muslims faithful, noting that religion as sensitive instrument of national unity should be practised with harmony with a view to bringing people together as one, and not to be used to create crisis and disharmony in the country.
He said,” Nigeria is a Circular State, no religion is more important than the other, therefore, adherence should practice their religion in such a way that it would create national unity, peace and development of the country” and appealed to Muslims in Delta State and the country in general to follow the steps of Prohet Mohammad who was born in 517AD in Mecca and was a man who preached peace.
He explained that Mohammad was a prophet sent by Allah to the world as a guardian, comforter and teacher of the message of Allah to Muslims, therefore should be emulated and do according to his works and not to cause crisis.
Alhaji Utsuman Ayokunnu, however, advised that the lifestyle of Prophet Mohammad was worthy of emulation, adding that as a comforter, he was patient and tolerance with humility as the only way to achieve desired objective of one Nigeria with strong bond of unity , development in progress
While praying for Delta State government led by Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Alhaji Utsuman Ayokunnu said that the state has been peaceful and warned that any evil perpetrators in the state would be put to shame and disgrace.
