Dr. Fubes Ade Danor appointed executive director of WSDGsO-West Africa

The World Sustainable Development Goals Organization (WSDGsO), an international body committed to advancing the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has named Dr. Fubes Ade Danor as its Executive Director for the West Africa region.

Dr. Danor’s appointment, effective December 2, 2024, was announced in a letter signed by the organization’s Africa Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Yahyaya Adams Muhammad.

The letter emphasized that Dr. Danor’s extensive experience and leadership in SDG-related initiatives across the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region set him apart from other candidates.

During a formal presentation ceremony held in Abuja on December 7, the Global Secretary-General of the WSDGsO Advisory Council, His Excellency Wadji Aref Moukarim, congratulated Dr. Danor and assured him of the organization’s full support.

“We will provide all necessary resources and assistance to ensure the success of your tenure,” Moukarim stated.

In his remarks, Alhaji Sani Ibrahim Yelwa highlighted the significance of Dr. Danor’s appointment, noting its potential to strengthen sustainable development efforts in the region.

“The urgent need for sustainable development has reshaped the global agenda, and Dr. Danor’s leadership will be instrumental in addressing challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality,” Yelwa said.

Reacting to his appointment, Dr. Danor expressed gratitude to the WSDGsO for the opportunity to lead its efforts in West Africa. “I am deeply honored by this trust and will work tirelessly to meet the organization’s expectations,” he said.

Dr. Danor will oversee WSDGsO’s activities across the 15 ECOWAS member states, with a mandate to advance the organization’s mission of fostering sustainable development in the region.
