East Asian Markets Extend Gains as Oil Prices Fall on Hopes of Iran War Resolution

Date:

Stock markets across East Asia recorded gains for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, buoyed by declining oil prices and growing optimism over a possible resolution to the ongoing Iran conflict.

South Korea’s KOSPI rose by as much as 3 percent by mid-morning trading. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 advanced by 0.8 percent, reflecting improved investor sentiment.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index climbed approximately 1 percent within the first hour of trading. Meanwhile, mainland China’s CSI 300 Index recorded a modest gain of 0.3 percent.

In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 rose by 0.2 percent by midday.

The positive performance across regional markets followed recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who expressed confidence that the Iran conflict was “close to over” during an interview with Fox News. He also hinted at the possibility of a new round of talks later in the week.
