The city of East Orange, New Jersey, United States and the Ugwumba Leadership Centre for Africa have entered into a strategic partnership, to promote leadership, human capacity development and sustainable development.
The partnership was recently announced during a meeting between the Mayor of East Orange, Ted Green and the founder of the Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa, Chief Uche Nwosu, in New Jersey, United States.
In his remarks, Ted Green described the partnership as a significant step towards deepening cooperation between East Orange and Nigeria through leadership development, youth empowerment and human capital investment.
The Mayor said the collaboration provides great opportunities for knowledge exchange and community development, while strengthening the relationship between both countries.
The highlight of the occasion was the recognition and decoration of Chief Uche Nwosu with the City of East Orange’s Award for Outstanding Leadership and Human Capacity Development in recognition of his contributions to leadership and human capacity development.
Receiving the award, Chief Nwosu expressed appreciation to the Mayor and the people of East Orange for the honour bestowed on him.
“I am deeply humbled by this recognition. I sincerely thank Mayor Ted Green and the people of East Orange for their warm hospitality and confidence in our shared vision. This honour will inspire us to do even more in promoting leadership and human capacity development,” he said.
Speaking on the new partnership, Nwosu described it as a milestone in strengthening relations between Nigeria and the United States.
“This partnership is about investing in people. It is an opportunity to develop leaders, empower young people and create lasting opportunities that will benefit our communities. We are building bridges that will inspire growth, innovation and sustainable progress,” he said.
The former Chief of Staff to the Imo state governor also acknowledged members of his delegation, including Mr. Kings Umege, Chief Ewhoma Tony Okpokparoro (Oilmoney), Prince Anozie Ugenyi and Mr. Kizito Umege, for their support throughout the visit.
The partnership will be coordinated by the Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa and is expected to drive programmes in leadership development, skills acquisition, youth empowerment and sustainable community growth in Nigeria and the United States.
