As Christians observe this year’s Easter celebrations, the FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has enhanced security with deployment of 4,000 personnel to nooks and crannies of the Territory, to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
The personnel were posted to churches, recreation centers, borders, mosques and other strategic places both in the city center and the outskirts of Abuja.
According to a statement from Public Relations Officer (PRO), FCT command of the Corps, Okomanyi Comfort explained that the deployed personnel were drawn from the rapid response team to respond aptly in case of emergency; the Armed Squad, the female squad and men from the intelligence unit amongst others.
It added that the Commandant of the Corps in the nation’s capital city, Dr. Peter Maigari, while addressing the officers and men of the command, charged the personnel to discharge their duties with diligence, alertness, professionalism and to collaborate with sister agencies, to ensure security of lives and properties in the territory.
Maigari reiterated the Corps mandate of safeguarding all critical bational assets and infrastructure both federal, state and local; disaster management and intelligence gathering.
Furthermore, the FCT-NSCDC boss urged the FCT populace to go about their businesses without fear, even as they maintain order, obey traffic rules, be civil and modest in their endeavours and to report any suspicious person or act to the appropriate quarter for further action, not forgetting that security us everyone’s business.
