The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Benue State has commenced the training of 30 youths and school leavers in Environmental Beautification Scheme Training (EBST).
The program, which is domiciled under the Special Public Works (SPW) is to last for three (3) months.
NDE State Coordinator for Benue, Mr. Patrick Akile explained that the program is one of the numerous programs designed and implemented by the Directorate to help unemployed school leavers get trained in hard and soft landscaping, to cushion the effect of unemployment in the society.
Akile averred that the program is a demonstration of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration in providing an enabling environment for various youth programs in the country in spite of the security challenges facing the nation, adding that the management of the NDE under the Director General Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo is determined to reduce unemployment in the country and Benue State in particular. He therefore urged the participants to take the training seriously to enhance their livelihood.
Head of Department, Special Public Works, Jennifer Favega said the aim of the scheme is to help the youths especially school drop out to acquire skills in landscaping and Plaster Of Paris (POP), so they can become employers of labour.
She advised them to take the training seriously by adhering to instructions from their trainers, so that at the end they will be able to establish themselves and also become employers of labor.
She however, warned that any participant involved in any act of indiscipline or absenteeism, will not be resettled at the end of the program.
