The lingering crisis rocking the leadership of the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State council has been laid to rest.
This followed the election of new executives to pilot the Chapel’s affairs in the next three years.
Members of the Chapel consist of journalists working with National Dailies and Television Stations whose media head offices are based outside the State.
The new executives were returned unopposed after a last minute withdrawal of one of the chairmanship candidate, Mr. Friday Otabor.
The elected members are: Mrs. Nefishetu Yakubu of the News Agency of Nigeria (Chairman), Gabriel Enogholase -Vanguard (Vice Chairman), Osaigbovo Iguobaro (Secretary)- Peoples Daily Newspaper and Patrick Ahanor – Blueprint Newspaper (Assistant Secretary).
Other members of the members of the executives are Idris Umar Momoh -Business Day Newspaper (Treasurer), Francis Onoiribholo – Daily Independent (Auditor) and Banabas Uzozike -Vanguard Newspaper (Financial Secretary).
In her acceptance speech, the Chairman, Mrs. Nefishetu Yakubu thanked members for the confidence reposed in her. She pledged to run an inclusive Chapel for the betterment of members.
