Lawyers in Benue State particularly in Makurdi, the state capital yesterday boycotted court proceedings in solidarity with the former Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who was suspended from office by President Muhammad Buhari last week.
When our correspondent visited some courts in Makurdi, people who had pending cases scheduled for proceeding were seen stranded at the court premises due to absence of their counsels.
At the Makurdi High Court 1, few of the management staff with public counsels were seen attending to some cases in terms of giving new date for further hearing.
Speaking to our correspondent, the chairman Nigeria Bar Association(NBA), Barrister Caleb Ishember, said that the action of PMB was carried out without due process.
He maintained members of the bar in the state decided to boycott every court activity in the state following directive from the national leadership of the bar that all lawyers should abstain from court for two(2)days.
