Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt coach; Stanley Eguma has thrown his weight behind a total boycott of the Nigeria league in protest over the crisis that has rocked football in the country.

Last week, referees, clubs and players agreed to stay away from league matches till further notice and this forced the league to call off matches slated for this weekend. “We support the boycott because of the many uncertainties facing the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and invariably Nigerian football,” said Eguma.

“These problems must be resolved for peace and fair play to exist in our football.” The timing of the boycott is not good for fourth-place Dolphins who have been on a fine run, but Eguma said it is a sacrifice worth taking. “This is not about Dolphins alone. It is about Nigerian football as a whole and so everything must first and foremost be done in the interest of the game here,” he maintained.
