As residents of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), especially the Muslim Ummah joined others across the globe in the celebration of Eid-el-kabir, they are enjoined to use the opportunity to pray for peace and the economic prosperity of all.
Also, they are urged to use the festival to pray for their country and our leaders at all levels of government as well as reach out to the less fortunate, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The Permanent Secretary,, FCT Administration, Mr. Olusade Adesola, who gave this charge in his Eid-el–Kabir message to residents of the FCT, noted that as the Festival of Sacrifice, Eid-el-Kabir holds great significance as it teaches the values of selflessness and compassion.
Adesola added that as residents of the FCT, they are fortunate to live in a diverse and harmonious society, where people from various backgrounds and cultures coexist in harmony, which is a testament to everyone’s collective strength and resilience.

He said: “As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, let us renew our hope and commitment to building a stronger, more vibrant FCT, where every resident can thrive and prosper.
“Let us also use the opportunity provided by this festival to pray for our country Nigeria and our leaders at all levels of government. Let us pray for peace and the economic prosperity of all our people.
“Let us be reminded that we have an obligation to keep alive the dreams of the founding fathers of the Territory as a symbol of Nigeria’s unity and strength. Let us play up those values that tend to unite us and shun those that encourage disunity and division.
“Let us come together as a community to express gratitude for the countless blessings bestowed upon us.
“ I urge each one of you to embrace the true spirit of Eid-el-Kabir by extending kindness and generosity to fellow residents. Together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of those who are in need, bringing joy and happiness to their hearts.”
Furthermore, the Permanent Secretary reminded everyone to observe the necessary public health and security protocols while celebrating the joyous occasion especially as they pertain to environmental sanitation and traffic regulations.
He equally advised that they should imbibe the mantra of saying something when we observe anything untoward or suspicious.
