The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has nullified the outcome of the 3-man Ad-Hoc Ward delegate congresses in Ekiti State, held on January 25, this year.
The ad-hoc committee was headed by the Governor of Akwa Ibom, Udom Emmanuel.
The party has, consequently resolved that its governorship primary election shall be conducted using the statutory/automatic delegates list.
These were part of the resolutions reached at the emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party held yesterday in Abuja over Ekiti State Election matters.
The National Chairman of PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, who read the resolutions after the meeting on Monday night, in the presence of other NWC members, further said that all parties and stakeholders have agreed to abide by the decision of the party in all matters relating to all issues concerning the position of the party in Ekiti State.
All pending court cases in all matters relating to the congress in the state, according to the resolution, must be withdrawn.
It stressed that any person defiant to the decision to withdraw all pending court cases which contradict the provisions of the party’s constitution shall be referred to the disciplinary committee of the party.
The party assured all aspirants, stakeholders and party faithful of a free, fair, transparent and credible governorship primary election in Ekiti State.
Earlier at a meeting with all parties and stakeholders in the Ekiti issue, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu advised the party stakeholders in Ekiti State not to lose track but remain focused on reclaiming power in the state.
Ayu gave the advice in his remarks at the party leaders meeting with PDP Ekiti State stakeholders, on Monday in Abuja, to settle the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party.
The PDP National Chairman said that the excitement and little agitations in Ekiti was not a negative thing, but a positive signal that “ PDP is strong” and its members were passionate about the party.
Ayu said that winning Ekiti would also be signal to the the unity demonstrated after the party national that produced the current National Working Committee, that PDP meant business and had have taken the first step to the villa.
His words, “ So, appeal to all of you from a Ekiti not to lose track of that key goal. Any other thing is a distraction. You must keep in focus the goal we have.
“The first is to win Ekiti and if possible to win every state and then ultimately to win the presidential election. That is central to rescue this country and rebuild it. This is the central message of this effort,” he said.
