Date:

From Muhammad Ibrahim, Kaduna

Plateau State based lawyer and public commentator, Barrister Solomon Dalung, yesterday said electoral malpractice is worse than any other crime in the country.

According to him, electoral violence is becoming a phenomenon within a democratic process and tradition of the country.

He disclosed this at a stakeholder session on prevention of electoral violence and drug abuse/launching of peace emblem organized by Greater Nigeria Initiative in conjunction with Benjamin Bissan Shekari Lives on Foundation and Facilitated by Center for Crisis Prevention and Peace Advocacy held in Kaduna.

“Electoral violence in Nigeria has been domesticated for a very long time in the southern part of this country. The first electoral violence in Nigeria was in 1964 when the election took place and there was a huge manipulation doctrine of election results. The outcome of that was the mass reaction of the people,” he said.
