The Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN) has expressed dismay on the activities of quarks who use sub-standard items for wiring of residential buildings or offices saying such practices is unethical
Kaduna state Chairman of the Association, EngrTijjaniAbubakar, disclosed this when he led the leadership of the Association on a courtesy visit on the State Commandant Of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) ModuBunu yesterday.
According to him the activities of the quacks have resulted in fire out break which has claimed lives and property.
In view of this Engr Abubakar Said the association has, agreed to collaborate to rid the country’s electrical business environment of sub-standard products, stolen or vandalized items.
He explained that LECAN is a professional body authorized to handle electrical works of sub-stations and to monitor projects in order to ensure standard.
The visit according to him is to be extended to Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and aimed at seeking security cover from the corps during enforcement exercises.
In his remarks,Bunu assured the delegation that NSCDC operatives in the department of Critical National Assets and Anti-vandal units will be collectively mobilised for to make the programme successful.
