Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Muhammadu Sunusi II, has finally, dropped his suit against President Goodluck Jonathan and the federal government, challenging his suspension from office.

Prior to the development, there were several indications that the outspoken ex-CBN chief, now Emir was planning to discontinue his legal battle with the President after both men purportedly had reconciliatory telephone conversation.

It would be recalled that following President Jonathan’s suspension of Sanusi from his position as governor of the CBN over allegations of financial recklessness, on February 20, Sanusi had sued the federal government at a Federal High Court, in Abuja, challenging his suspension.

Those joined in the suit as defendants were President Goodluck Jonathan, the Attorney General of the Federation, and the Inspector General of Police respectively.

However, in the Notice of Discontinuance dated July 1, 2014, and filed same day, Mr. Sanusi’s lawyers informed the court of his intention to discontinue with the matter.
