Eniola Badmus Opens Up on 87kg Weight Loss Journey, Speaks Against Body Shaming

Date:

Popular Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has opened up about her remarkable weight loss journey, describing it as one of the most difficult experiences of her life while calling for an end to body shaming.

In a post shared on her social media page, the actress revealed that she has reduced her weight from 170 kilograms to 83 kilograms over the past five years through discipline, consistency, and a commitment to healthy living.

According to Badmus, the transformation was not achieved overnight but was the result of years of sacrifice, setbacks, and determination.

“Five years ago, I weighed 170KG. Today, in 2026, I weigh 83KG. That didn’t happen overnight. It took years of discipline, sacrifice, pain, consistency, tears, setbacks, and choosing my health every single day,” she wrote.

“It has been one of the hardest journeys of my life, and I am incredibly proud of how far I have come.”

The actress also reflected on her experiences as a plus-size entertainer, saying she faced rejection and persistent body shaming while trying to establish herself in the Nigerian film industry.

She expressed disappointment that despite her significant weight loss, she continues to face criticism about her appearance.

“Here is what breaks my heart: the same people who body-shamed me when I was plus-size are the same people body-shaming me now that I have lost the weight. What exactly do you want from me?” she asked.

Badmus explained that changes in her skin were a natural consequence of losing nearly 90 kilograms and said she remains committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

“When someone loses almost 90KG, it is completely normal for the skin to change. I am doing my best to take care of myself, use collagen, stay healthy, and embrace every stage of this transformation,” she added.

The actress noted that choosing not to respond to online insults should not be mistaken for a lack of emotions, stressing that hurtful comments can have lasting effects.

“Just because I don’t respond to the insults doesn’t mean they don’t hurt. It doesn’t mean I am weak or that I don’t have feelings. I am human, and words have consequences,” she said.

She urged critics to celebrate her resilience rather than focus on her appearance, encouraging people to choose kindness over ridicule.

Badmus further lamented that much of the criticism she receives comes from fellow women, despite frequent calls for women to support one another.

“So much of this bullying comes from women. We often say women should support women, but where is that support when another woman is fighting to become healthier and happier? Kindness costs nothing,” she stated.

She concluded by calling for an end to body shaming in all forms.

“Nobody deserves to be bullied for being plus-size, and nobody deserves to be bullied for losing weight either,” she said.
