Enyimba

Nigeria Premier League champions, Enyimba International have been knocked out of the CAF Champions League after playing out a goalless draw against Ahly Benghazi of Libya yesterday in Aba.
The People’s Elephant needed just one unreplied goal to secure passage to the second preliminary round after scoring 3 away goals against Ahli Benghazi in the first leg last week in Libya which ended 3-4 in favour of the North Africans.
In the second leg game played at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba Enyimba dominated the entire first half while the away side sat deep and waited to get the Nigerian champions on the counter.
The People’s Elephants continued their dominance in the second half, pressing hard for an opener but a resolute Libyan backline stood their ground
Enyimba’s George Owen had the best opportunity of the match in the 75th minute but wasted it as the tension of the home crowd got to unimaginable level.
The centre referee added six minutes but the two-time African champions were unable to break the deadlock as the game ended goalless while Ahli Benghazi progressed to the second round 4-3 on aggregate.
