EU, UNICEF intervention reduces HIV/AIDs in Kebbi

Kebbi State Government has said that with the EU/UNICEF support intervention, the State has recorded only 46 HIV/AIDs positive tested Pregnancy women in 2018 compared to the previous years.
Speaking to journalists on the achievements recorded on the menace when received the EU/UNICEF delegates in his office yesterday, the Director in charge of the state Public Health in the Ministry of Health Mohammed Abdullahi Bubuche said that the state post activities rate among the pregnancy women was around o. % adding that the UNICEF supported the facilities which leads to the reduction of the HIV/AIDs in the State.
He explained further that as at the 2006 prevalence survey is 4% before the coming of the intervention while in 2007 the State recorded 2.7% and 2010 was 1%.
He therefore, added that the partnership with the donor agencies in the State had been supportive and leads to the success as they provided them with the HIV kids for test.
Bubuche who said that in 2015 the State has 1.4% of pregnancy women tested positive on HIV/AIDs while in 2018 and 2019 we have 0.6% which contributed to the achievements recorded in the State.
He said that after the withdrawal of the World Bank support, the EU took over by 2006 to 2007 adding that all the necessary support have been given to the State for curbing the situation.
“the facilities have been increased, tests kids supply, and drugs were free, and any women tested positive they usually invite her husband and the children to also undergo the same test and place them on drugs” he added.
Responding, the leader of the Team and Communication Specialists Mallam Rabiu Musa said that they are in Kebbi State to assess some the EU/UNICEF projects across the state, thank the Kebbi State Government for their cooperation and support toward achieving the same objective.
