A former chairman of Abaji area council, Alhaji Hassan Usman Sokodabo, has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representative for Abuja south constituency in 2019 election, under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
Declaring his intention on Wednesday in the nation’s capital, Sokodabo noted that Abuja south, which comprises Abaji, Kwali, Kuje and Gwagwalada federal constituency, is in need of a credible representative in the national assembly.
He opined that since the inception of the present dispensation, people of Abuja south federal constituency are yet to have any credible representation that could champion their course.
According to him, “We know the challenges people of Abuja south have been facing.
“Besides, we don’t have a second tier of government and FCT people need a credible candidate at the national assembly that could champion the course of the people.”
Sokodabo, who is the immediate past federal commissioner of the Civil Service Commission, in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State, stated that the people of the constituency had mounted pressure on him to contest the seat in 2019 election.
Also, Sokodabo was a one time chairman of Abaji area council and had prior to 2016 area council election, defected from PDP to APC, before returning back to his former party PDP.
Also speaking, the chairman of the PDP in FCT, Alhaji Ibrahim Biko, commended the House of Representatives aspirant for declaring his intention to contest under the party’s platform.
He noted that Sokodabo was among the credible aspirants from Abuja south that the party was proud of, saying the party was ready to ensure that it creates a level playing ground for all the contestants during the primaries
