Ex Dep. Gov. Abdul emerges Nasarawa ADC Chairman

A former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, John Michael Abdul, has been elected as the State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following the party’s congress held over the weekend.
The exercise, which produced a full complement of state executives, is seen as part of the party’s early preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Also elected into the state executive council is Isah Adamu Nadare as Secretary, alongside other officials tasked with managing the party’s affairs at the state level.
The newly constituted leadership includes Prince Mohammed Yamusa Chindo as Deputy Chairman, Aminu Nagogo as Treasurer, Elmahmud Hussaini Sani as Financial Secretary, Hajiya Hafsat Ibrahim Tiyel as Women Leader, Prince Shekwoaga Musa Maikasuwa as Youth Leader, Barrister Paul Magaji Ajeh as Legal Adviser, Dr Taimako Sunday Anyuabaga as Publicity Secretary, and Hajiya Hassana Musa Maidoki as Auditor.
At the zonal level, Idris Ojoko emerged as Vice Chairman for Nasarawa West, while Yahaya Onyapa and Joseph Masin were elected Vice Chairmen for Nasarawa South and Nasarawa North respectively.
In his acceptance speech, Abdul expressed appreciation to party members for the confidence reposed in the new leadership, pledging to unite stakeholders and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures across the state.
He assured that the leadership would prioritise fairness and inclusiveness in future party primaries, stressing that all aspirants would be given a level playing field.
The congress also drew key stakeholders within the party, including Patricia Akwashiki, Musa Elayo, Suleiman Asonya Adokwe, and Julius Miyanki Ogah, who collectively urged the new executives to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of future elections.
Other prominent figures and aspirants present at the event included Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, Nuhu Angbazo, Jibril Sabo Keana, Ayuba Umar, Nasiru Soja Abdullahi, and Umar Shuaibu Kubi, among others.
