Hakeem Baba Ahmed

By Musa Baba Adamu

A former Presidential Adviser, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has urged President Bola Tinubu to rethink remaining in office, saying stepping aside might be the best option for the country.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Daybreak, monitored in Abuja, he said the President’s two and a half years in charge have not matched the promises made or the achievements often credited to him.
He argued that official claims from the government do not reflect what Nigerians are facing daily.
“There’s a wide discrepancy between what he says he’s doing and what people say they are living,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed also criticised the President’s approach to security.
According to him, “President Buhari left a terrible security situation and Tinubu doesn’t appear to have improved it; rather, it appears that he has made it worse.”
He suggested that Tinubu’s age, his long-held ambition to become president, and having “no further value to offer” may be reasons for asking him to step aside.
“If President Tinubu loves the survival of Nigeria, I think he should call it quits,” he said.
He added that Nigerians should find someone else in 2027, “whether within or outside his party, who has better qualities.”
Jada, who is a kinsman and top loyalist of presumed presidential front runner of the party, Atiku Abubakar, said in his letter of resignation that he took the decision to refocus his attention on other critical commitments.
”I write to formally tender my resignation as the assistant national publicity secretary and zonal publicity secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) effective immediately,” Jada stated.
Jada, better known around Adamawa State as Calculate, added that stepping down is a difficult but necessary choice so he could attend to personal matters that requires his full attention.
He said it had been a privilege for him to have contributed to the growth and visibility of the ADC and that the party could count on him to continue respecting the its leadership.
