Tsoriyang community in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State is agog as FARMTRAC Nigeria Limited rolled out equipment to commence the construction of an alternative access road for the people in the Area following the collapse of Zonkwa-Madakiya bridge linking several communities and Kafanchan town, the headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area.
Speaking to journalists who were at the site to monitor the progress of work, the District Head of Tsoriyang Engr. Paul Sule Abui described the intervention as a huge relief to his people, saying it is a welcome development for the agrarian community who were not able to move their products to market since the collapse of the Zonkwa-Madakiya bridge linking several communities and Kafanchan town, the headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area.
Engr. Abui lauded the prompt response by Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani on the issue to relieve the community from long-suffering.
According to him, the alternative route will serve as a new road until a permanent solution is put in place.
“ I commended the professionalism displayed by the staff of FARMTRAC Nigeria Limited since they arrived at the site.
“They keep the leaders of the community informed about what they are doing to mitigate our suffering as directed by our able governor
“ We on our part as a Community will give them the necessary support and security for them to go about their work uninterrupted,” he said
A resident, Mary Katung described the construction of the alternative access road as relief, which she said, when completed, will make life easier for them.
“When the bridge was okay I sold provisions to motorists and passengers but since the collapse of the bridge, the business is at a standstill.
“ I cannot thank our governor Senator Uba Sani enough for this gesture.
“The collapse was a result of a delay by the relevant past authority to intervene which led to the total collapse of the bridge.
“We saw the problem coming but surprisingly no action was taken by the authorities to mitigate the erosion threat. It all started as a small pothole close to the bridgehead but this year, an unprecedented flood accelerated the erosion menace.
“But today thank God we have a Governor with the people at heart and the Tsoriang Community is very grateful to him,” She said.
In his remarks the Project Coordinator of FARMTRAC Nigeria Limited Surv. Marcus Saleh said his company is in the Tsoriang Community on an intervention project.
