he Gombe state Police Command has said they have arrested a suspected criminal who paraded himself as a police officer in Gombe metropolis.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Fwaji Atajiri who confirmed the arrest to our correspondent in a telephone interview yesterday, in Gombe, said the suspected criminal was arrested while collecting money from bakeries, noting that the suspect was moving from one bakery factory to the other to deceive people.
The PPRO, who gave the name of the suspect as Garba Adamu said the suspect collected the sum of N30,000 from a man who own a bakery
factory in Gombe metropolis who was earlier deceived by the suspect that government had registered his product with NAFDAC to enable him operate his factory without hindrance.
Speaking further, the police spokesman said after collecting the money from the bakery for the first time, the suspect went for the econd time to demand more before he run out of luck when the bakery reported the matter to the police at the station which led to his arrest.
The PPRO warned residents to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement to the police and called on them to always identify people in their area who claim to be policemen in order to avoid fraudulent.
In another development, the police also said one Ibrahim Isa 38, was arrested for raping a six year old child, noting that the arrest was made at Yalmatu Deba local government area of Gombe state when the suspect lure the child to unidentified area and rape her several times living her with injuries. The police spokesman therefore warned parents to avoid their children from moving to unidentified areas, adding that they should always avoid entering neighbouring houses without the knowledge of their parents.
