Lagos state governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has congratulated the newly eappointe d Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on his ascendancy to the exalted position.
A statement by Fashola’s Senior Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello said Sanusi’s assumption of the throne is, in a way, “keeping a date with destiny” because he has, for a long time, wished it as his next assignment after leaving the CBN job.
The governor wished the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor long and fruitful reign as he assumed office as the 57th Emir and hoped that his emergence would further cement the long standing bond between the people of Kano and their brothers and sisters in Lagos and across the country with whom, he said, they have been having harmonious relationship.
Fashola noted that the choice was a deserving feat for the former CBN helmsman, who has endeared himself to the Nigerian public for his brilliance, courage, professionalism and tact, saying his tenure as CBN boss was very eventful and quite useful to moving the country forward.
Praying that the reign of the new Emir would bring lasting peace and progress to the country, the Governor wished him long life and congratulated the people of the ancient City, the Governor and the government of Kano and Nigerians generally for making the right choice.
The new Emir’s tenure as CBN governor officially ended four days before the former Emir, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero died after 50 years on the throne.
