The ambition of former Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda to return to the National Assembly in 2027 has come under heavy fire from key political stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Leading the critics is an APC stalwart and former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Zakari Angulu Dobi, who described Aduda’s renewed interest in the seat as a “misadventure.”
Speaking during a gathering to endorse the Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Umar, for the same senatorial seat, Dobi argued that the era of long-term incumbents should give way to a fresh generation of leaders.
“Aduda should allow the younger generation to lead the FCT. It is time for a transition,” Dobi stated.
Allegations of Underdevelopment
Also addressing the crowd, the aspirant, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Umar, criticized Aduda’s track record, alleging that despite serving three terms in the Senate, the former lawmaker failed to bring meaningful development to the FCT.
Umar urged residents across the six area councils to shift their support toward his candidacy to ensure a more impactful representation at the Red Chamber. He promised to prioritize the needs of the FCT residents if elected in the 2027 polls.
