The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, on Friday handed over recovered illicit drugs and arrested suspects to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), FCT Command.
The handover, according to the Command, is part of ongoing inter-agency collaboration to combat drug-related crimes and other criminal activities in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking during the event, CP Sanusi said that while the Police have the power to investigate and prosecute drug offences, it was necessary to maintain strong synergy with sister agencies, particularly the NDLEA, which has the statutory mandate for drug-related investigations and prosecution.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working with security agencies and stakeholders to safeguard the FCT.
Receiving the items and suspects on behalf of the NDLEA FCT Strategic Command, the Public Relations Officer, ACN Samuel Orji, commended the CP for the gesture.
He assured that the suspects would undergo proper investigation and be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The FCT Police Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons and activities to the nearest Police Station or through its emergency lines: 0803 200 3913, 0806 158 1938.
