Residents of Abuja’s satellite towns are breathing a sigh of relief and offering high praise to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as major road projects reach their final stretches.

During an inspection tour on Friday, the Wike reviewed progress on several critical arteries, including the Karu township roads, the Apo-Karshi road, and the Kubwa-Gbazango otherwise known as Arab Road project.

The atmosphere in Kubwa was one of appreciation as locals witnessed the rapid transformation of their neighborhood infrastructure.

One of the residents, Prosper Onyenaucheya, who spoke during the inspection of Arab Road, lauded the administration’s focus on projects that touch the lives of everyday citizens.

Onyenaucheya told the Minister:”You are doing a very wonderful work and the work is going fast. We want to thank you for the ‘speed of light’ with which the work has been going on here.

“Thank you very much, Mr. Project. You have helped promote the scorecard of our President.”

Wike expressed satisfaction with the quality of the ongoing works, noting that several of these projects are being fast-tracked to coincide with the third anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration.

Key projects update:”Karu Township Roads: Stretching from Karu Interchange to the Customs Clinic Junction, this project is slated for inauguration during the anniversary celebrations.

”Kubwa-Gbazango (Arab Road): Following assurances from the contractor, Wike confirmed this road is also expected to be commissioned by June 2026.”

“Apo-Karshi Road: Work continues as part of the broader effort to decongest traffic and open up the FCT.”

A highlight of the inspection was the Minister’s praise for Abdul Val Nigeria Ltd, the indigenous firm handling the Karu project. Wike used the opportunity to champion the capability of Nigerian contractors.

Wike told journalists:”What impressed me so much is that it is being handled by a local contractor, and you can see the quality of work.

“The contractor has demonstrated that if given the opportunity, our local contractors can compete with foreign ones.”
