FCT SWAN Week football: Peoples Daily zooms into final

Peoples Daily football team yesterday qualified for the final of the 2018 FCT Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Week football 5-aside event after defeating Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in the semi-final match played in the Area 3 field, Abuja.
Peoples Daily rallied from 2 goals down in the first half to level the scores in second half thereby forcing the match into penalty shootout that ended 2-1 in their favour.
FRCN converted only one of their pot-kick while Peoples Daily converted two to reach the final where they will take on Nigeria Television Authority, NTA.
On their part, NTA progressed to the final of the after defeating Independent Television 2-0 in the first semi-final match.
Reacting to his team success after beating ITV 2-0, NTA head coach, Abubakar Sodiq expressed his happiness with the performance of the side while promising more of the same in the final match.
On his part, coach of the Peoples Daily team, Amaechi Agbo, described the victory over FRCN as a great moment of joy considering that Peoples Daily is the only print medium in the tournament. He expressed optimism that his team will emerge triumphant tomorrow in the final despite his opponents being motivated by N2 million winning bonus.
NTA Director General, Yakubu Ibn Muhammed promised his wards Two million naira cash reward if they can retain the title they won last year.
The final game between NTA and Peoples Daily is scheduled for Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Soho24sport, Jahi.
