The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) have officially commenced a massive promotion exercise targeting over 13,000 civil servants.

The 10-day exercise, which began on Wednesday, July 1, spans 150 cadres and grade levels.

Our correspondent reports that the exercise was approved by the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, as part of the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Over 13,000 civil servants across FCTA and FCDA across
150 diverse cadres and grades within 10 days, beginning July 1,
using Computer-Based Testing (CBT), to clear the backlog of 2025 and 2026 promotions.

According to Engr. Emeka Ezeh, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, the current exercise covers the 2025 promotion cycle.

He said in a strategic move to ensure no eligible officer is left behind, Minister Wike has also directed the Commission to fast-track administration and conduct the 2026 promotion exercise before the end of this year.

“The Minister directed the Commission to work with all relevant agencies of FCTA to ensure a hitch-free exercise, ensuring that issues which arose from previous exercises do not repeat themselves,” Engr. Ezeh stated .

He reiterated the FCT Civil Service Commission’s
commitment to a seamless process.

To this end, Ezeh assured all participating candidates that robust arrangements have been finalized to guarantee a smooth, transparent process.

He urged civil servants to remain patient during the scheduled window and wished them success in their CBT.

According to him, the Commission continues to build on its digital transformation milestone; it previously blazed a trail in late 2024 by becoming the first civil service commission in Nigeria to successfully transition its promotion examinations to a CBT platform—barely six months after its inauguration in March 2024.
