February polls: Eze Ndi-Igbo urges FG to provide adequate security

The Eze Ndi-Igbo of all states in Northern Nigeria and Oyo State, yesterday, called on the federal government to ensure adequate security before, during and after the forthcoming general election, to contain any form of post-election violence.

The group also admonished all Igbos to ignore any threat from any politician or political party, but stay wherever they reside to defend their votes.

This was part of the resolutions of the meeting of the Eze Ndi-Igbo of all states in Northern Nigeria and Oyo State, held in Abuja.

Presenting their communiqué after the meeting, the Coordinator of the group, Pampas Ngozi Wahiwe emphasized that the Igbos were committed to the peaceful-coexistence of all Nigeria irrespective of tribe, creed and religion.

Wahiwe, who is also the Eze Igbo Minna, maintained that they had resolved “to work for a violence-free electoral process in 2015”.

The group called on all Ndi-Igbo leaders to mobilize their subjects and kinsmen to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVCs) for the forthcoming general election.

According to him, “We have resolved that the unity, indivisibility and peaceful co-existence of all people in the country are not negotiable.

“We urge all Igbos nationwide to remain in their various states of abode during and after the forthcoming election, as this country belongs to all of us.
