Fenerbahçe threw away a two-goal advantage to draw 2–2 with Slavia Prague after conceding a 90th-minute equaliser in their UEFA Champions League encounter on Tuesday.
The Turkish side raced into a 2–0 lead within the opening 11 minutes but failed to hold on as the visitors fought back to snatch a point.
Milan Škriniar opened the scoring in the fourth minute, finishing a move created by O. Aydin to give Fenerbahçe an early advantage.
Mason Greenwood doubled the lead in the 11th minute, converting Nuno Semedo’s assist to put the hosts firmly in control.
However, Slavia Prague responded four minutes later, with Lukáš Provod reducing the deficit in the 15th minute to make it 2–1.
Fenerbahçe maintained their slender advantage until half-time but failed to extend their lead after the restart.
The visitors continued to press for an equaliser, capitalising on Fenerbahçe’s inability to restore their two-goal cushion.
Their persistence paid off in the 90th minute when P. Kacor found the net from E. Ayaosi’s pass to level the score at 2–2.
The late goal denied Fenerbahçe victory after their impressive start and ensured Slavia Prague left with a share of the points.
The result highlighted Fenerbahçe’s failure to protect their early advantage, while Slavia Prague’s late fightback rescued a valuable draw.
