The resolution of the Federal government for primary schools to adopt the usage of mother tongue as a method of teaching has been described as “a right step towards the right direction”.
Recall that the federal executive council meeting last week Wednesday resolved that mother tongue will be adopted in Nigerian schools to improve teaching skills among the young stars.
In an interview with the journalists in Yola, Weekend, Mal.Isah Labaran, Head Teacher, Capital primary school Jimeta-Yola expressed delight with the development noting that the inclusion of the mother tongue at the primary level will help in giving the pupils quick understanding of their subjects of studies.
Labaran applauded the decision saying that teachers of various subjects would now use the original language of their pupils in teaching which will easily pass the messages accurately without the stress of translating from one language to the other.
Speaking in the same vein,Mal.Muhammad Baba,Head Teacher,Majalisa primary school and Aishatu Babadiya,Head Teacher,Luggere primary school confirmed the receipt of the circular already stressing that the innovative idea will go a long way in improving knowledge of the pupils.
They added that developed countries like India and China have been using their mother tongues in their school schedules which gives the pupils a good understanding their academic engagements.
They however charge their teachers to implement the new update in teaching their pupils for better understanding and assimilation.
