FG can’t protect Nigerians, says APC chieftain

A Presidential aspirant in the 2011 general election, Francis Onabis, has condemned the dastardly bombing and murder of Nigerians in the early hours of Monday in Abuja saying at the Federal Government lacks the capacity to protect its citizens.

Onabis, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Esan area of Edo State said the attack on innocent citizens of the country has proved conclusively that the Federal Government and security agencies have no idea as to how to confront growing terrorism.

Onabis in a statement signed by his media officer, Ayokunle Oloye said the present government has failed to protect lives and properties of its citizen, which is it fundamental responsibility.

We urge the Federal Government to sit up and take necessary actions to protect the lives and property of the citizenry in tandem with

Quoting section 14(2)b of the 1999 Constitution which states that security and welfare of the people is the primary purpose of government, Onabis said the attack is a clear failure of government responsibility to protect its citizen.

“Nigerians, irrespective of where they live; who they are, deserved to be protected from all form of attack,” he said.

He described the attack as an open declaration of war on Nigeria’s unity, calling on the people to summon courage to fight terrorism.

“ President Jonathan has lost reasoning and idea on how to fight insurgency, Nigerians must raise and defend its unity, this present government has nothing new to offer, its same old story.

“A government that is yet to give explanation to the recent jail break attempt, or a government which party was quick to blame its failure on opposition, Nigerians are tired of the killings and has lost hope that this PDP government can protect them.”
